History

Many people might not know that www.wvghosts.com has been around since 1999. Long before it was "cool" or widely accepted to be a paranormal investigator. The founder of the site Jonathan Moore created West Virginia Ghosts. He was intrigued by not only his experiences but mostly from other's accounts of their greetings from beyond the grave, he wanted to find a way to showcase these tales. Being a computer programmer, he built and designed the site we log onto everyday. The site was to be a collection of ghost stories and urban legends for the state of West Virginia. It then grew from just those stories to a Message Board, collection of sightings, and paranormal advice. Then in 2003, the server crashed. Jonathan then had to rebuild this website even when others said it was not going to go anywhere, it has now grown to over 500 plus members. With the age of MySpace, it has grown on there as well with a friend's list of almost 1,500. He thanks the members and friends of West Virginia Ghosts for making it what it is today.

Motto and Mission Statement

To provide the public with untampered with, unedited proof of the paranormal. To provide the truth and facts when reporting about a haunting. We do not condone nor permit fakes, edited (unless for enhancing or zooming to make the anomaly more visible in the photo), fabrications or non-accurate accounts. We do not condone nor use Ouija Boards or séances to communicate with spirits or entities. These devices are best left to those who can and want to take on that responsibility. We also do not condone nor permit any team member to trespass on private property without prior consent nor do we believe it is a good idea to be in a condemned building for safety's sake of all team members.

About the Website and Message Board

The West Virginia Ghosts website is full of true ghost stories submitted by those who have either lived in or been to the state of West Virginia. There are over 400 true accounts of encounters with ghosts, infamous monsters, aliens or encounters with the other realm. The website also contains a photo gallery with photos submitted by posters of the Message Board, book reviews, movie listings, daily horoscope, Ghosts 101 for those interesting in investigating, announcements along with paranormal news. The Message Board includes areas for Beginners to the Advanced. There is a place to ask questions on the board and through Dear DaVine which is West Virginia Ghosts' Dear Abby with a paranormal twist. We welcome one and all to join the board, where membership is always free.

The WVGhosts Paranormal Investigation Team (WVGPIT)

The team consists of Jonathan Moore, Stephanie Moore, and Michael Moore. Jonathan and Michael are brothers who co-founded the website and Message board. They have been investigating local hauntings in the West Virginia area for over 15 years.

Stephanie Moore is a 911 dispatcher and the sensitive of the group, she has been able to sense the presence of spirits since she was 8 years old. Although she became interested in investigating the paranormal in the past 10 years, she has had years of experience sensing and communicating with those that have already passed. She is an aspiring Photographer, Artist and published poet. She has background in the mystical arts and in psychology.

Michael Moore is a Paramedic who also is a Certified Private Investigator with a background in religion and security. He has also been experiencing the paranormal from a young age.

Each of the team members brings a different perspective to the investigation. Each one wanting to come to the same conclusion. They hope to help those that seek their insight and be able to provide the homeowner or business owner with evidence that is true and accurate. Our team prides itself with a self satisfaction for broadening our already wide knowledge base. If we do not know an answer to a question we will research until we find it.

As always, all investigations are free of charge.
